Share the Nachas Day 2020: Bringing the Light, Wherever We Are

December 16, 2020 by Ronit Greenstein (Faculty and Staff)

Milton’s annual Share the Nachas Day looked a little different this year than in years past. To keep our grandparents, special friends, teachers, and students safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, our Share the Nachas Day went virtual for the very first time. Grandparents and special friends from across the country came together for an adult learning session led by Dr. Deborah Skolnick-Einhorn, then joined the rest of the Milton community for a warm and inspiring zimriyah (songfest). More than 500 people participated and waved to the “Nachas Cam” as MILTON educators Silvia Edenburg, Jill Stepak, Rabbi Mat Tonti, and Etan Weiss – led our community in song and prayer, followed by a moving musical performance by “Jewgrass” band Nefesh Mountain. To paraphrase a Milton grandparent, our community came together to plant the seeds of family, love, and kindness, bringing light to a difficult and distanced time.
