Our Stories

Holocaust Remembrance Day Program in Middle School

January 29, 2021 by Ronit Greenstein (Faculty and Staff)

On International Holocaust Remembrance Day, middle school students had the honor of hearing from Holocaust survivor Toby Levy about how she hid with her extended family – and how their survival was due, in part, to a 16-year-old boy. MILTON parent and New York Times editor Sarah Wildman, who interviewed Ms. Levy for an article, moderated the talk. Ms. Levy’s words transported us to a time that defies comprehension and inspired our students and teachers to bear witness to her story and strive for a better future. We are so grateful to Ms. Levy for sharing her indomitable spirit and light with us. Special thanks to Sarah Wildman for making this program possible and for moderating the discussion thoughtfully and knowledgeably, elaborating on the history so that our students fully understood the context and narrative of Ms. Levy’s memories.
