Primary Parents Update
December 11, 2014 by
This has been busy and productive fall for Primary Parents. Here are a few highlights so far in the 2014-2015 school year that have particularly excited us:
Our website is continually evolving, and we are using it as a key resource to keep you up to date on the world of Primary Parents. We now offer online merchandise ordering, along with an online system for lunch and challah orders.
The Chesed Committee is in its second year of operation. This outreach program has shared information with our community to provide meals, comfort, and childcare to our families when they are most in need. Chesed will soon have a link on the Primary Parents website. In the meantime, please visit their Lotsa Helping Hands site. The Random Acts of Kindness Committee shared a mitzvah opportunity with South Campus students to provide holiday meals in beautifully decorated baskets through SOME (“So Others Might Eat”). To equitably recognize the hard work of all employees at JPDS-NC, we now have a Teacher and Staff Appreciation Committee (formerly the Teacher Appreciation Committee). Through dues, this committee finds creative ways to thank our staff and will soon distribute gift cards for Chanukah. There are many other programs that play an important role at JPDS-NC and in Primary Parents – Box Lunches, Birthday Lunches, Tea and Tissues, Birthday Books, End of Year Celebration, Eat, Shop and Earn, and Holiday Sales.
In October, we hosted, along with the Advancement Office, the first Volunteer Social. We had over 50 parents and staff enjoy an evening of schmoozing while learning more about all volunteer opportunities. Our next big event is PJ & Movie Night on January 25. We hope to see you there!
Primary Parents is proud of the services we provide, and we are always looking for ways to learn and grow. We could not offer any of our services, programs, or initiatives without our dedicated team of parent volunteers. We are happy to help you get involved to any degree that you are able. We have events that take place at school during the school day, and tasks that can be done at home (or anywhere) on your own schedule. We welcome everyone to get involved and learn how fulfilling it can be to help us meet our mission of fostering a sense of community, facilitating the involvement of parents in the school through our various activities and events, and providing services to students, families, faculty, and staff. Please contact us! We welcome your suggestions, enthusiasm, and energy.
