Moetzet HaTalmidim (Student Council) Organizes Collection Drive for U.S. Troops

February 1, 2016 by Miriam R (’16) (Students) Yael R (’20) (Students)

JPDS-NC students are leading a collection drive to show support for the troops. In every classroom, there is a reusable bag to collect donations. Our student council first organized this drive because we want to thank the people that protect us, and support them so they can keep doing what they do for us.

U.S. army troops can be found in 134 countries in places like Iraq, Syria and Australia. A lot more than you would expect. The U.S. army is in need of care products – and they need them more than we do. We are collecting things such as hats and scarves, personal care items, gift cards, batteries, flashlights, fans, and electronics. We figured that the students and teachers at JPDS-NC can donate what they can to help. What inspired us is that we want to thank the soldiers for defending our country, and donating needed items to people who work hard for us is one way we can fulfill our job as American citizens.

At JPDS-NC, students have tried to let people know about our collection drive in many ways. First, the members of the student council presented the plan to their classes. Then, we sent out announcements to the families. We also wrote this blog article to spread the word. We are happy to do this collection drive because we are so dedicated to do the right thing for the U.S.A.
