Meet the Middle School Program Committee: Co-Chair Dina Epstein

May 5, 2016

I’m a big believer that, if you want something to be great, you have to be willing to put in some of the work to make that happen. So, even though our journey with JPDS-NC is just beginning (our eldest is in Pre-K) I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as one of the Co-Chairs of the Middle School Program Committee as we all embark on the exciting challenge of shaping the future of JPDS-NC.
My involvement, of course, is partly out of self-interest: My husband, Eitan Levisohn, and I are both grateful recipients of excellent Jewish day school educations and, by our third date, we had already agreed that we wanted to make Jewish day school education a priority for our then-imaginary children. Now that we have real children — Ezra (5), Talya (3), and Ilan (1) — we’re excited to be starting on that path.
But my commitment to Jewish schooling goes deeper than just making sure there are great educational opportunities for my own family. Indeed, I may be the only person you’ll ever meet who, as a high school student, dreamed of growing up to be the headmaster of a Jewish Day School. And even though my current professional work is in the legal world, I’m still appreciative each day for the depth and breadth of my own educational experiences and I remain committed to working to enhance and expand those opportunities for others.
