Meet the Middle School Match Committee: Co-Chair Miriam Feffer

March 30, 2016

On the first day of Pre-K, JPDS-NC immediately felt like home. From the stellar teaching teams to the gorgeous South Campus to the daily celebration of our pluralistic mosaic, every aspect of school life is infused with creativity, kindness, and purpose. When our daughter reported that the big kids look out for little kids on the bus, or that one child’s question moved the class to study a new topic, we knew that JPDS-NC recognized each individual’s potential to make a difference.
That principle also drives the Middle School Match Committee. On a literal level, the Match Committee is reaching out to the JPDS-NC community to meet the $500,000 challenge generously extended by the Laufers. On a higher plane, we’re engaging fellow parents in an opportunity to act on our shared values and sustain our school’s growth from strength to strength.
As the development director at Washington Hebrew Congregation, I spend my days thinking about what motivates philanthropy, and I believe that giving – at any level – conveys priorities and dreams. As parents, we’ve already invested our most precious resource, our kids, in JPDS-NC. For many of us, our kids will benefit directly from the Middle School. (Sparing awkward tweens the stress of starting a new school in the throes of puberty? Huge bonus!) By participating in the Middle School Match, we can also help build a home that will welcome new additions to our family of families for generations to come.
