JPDS-NC Presents: The Lion King

March 2, 2017 by Hannah Seidel (Faculty and Staff)

Kol Hakavod to all the cast and crew of the JPDS-NC production of The Lion King!

JPDS-NC community members and the preschoolers at Washington Hebrew Congregation and the EDCJCC were treated to two dazzling performances. The show featured 120 talented cast members and an extraordinary set and costumes that our 40 creative crew members worked on. The entire gym was transformed into a jungle – there were even monkeys hanging from the ceiling! – creating a fun and immersive atmosphere for the performance. The audience was welcomed by a parade of zebras, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, flamingos, flowers, worms, and birds – and of course a lot of lions! Students sang in both Hebrew and English and every student had a moment to shine onstage.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made the show possible and to Artistic Director Sandy Shulman, Directors Sarah Gershman and Sarah Shapiro, Musical Director and Keyboardist Helene Reisler, Choreographer Marci Klugman, Production Designer and Keyboard/Bassist Zac Borovay, and Percussionist Rachel Milner-Gillers.

To quote our directors: “The Lion King reminds us that every creature plays an essential role in the great circle of life. In that spirit, we would like to thank the many, many people – great and small – who played their part in bringing this production to life.” You all make us so proud!

The video of the production is now available!
