Milton Parents Association: Programs

This is a year-long opportunity to create community by class! Room parents send monthly updates to the class about MPA and school events and plan meet-ups for families.

We love Milton staff! This committee helps show our Panda Pride and love with special treats and gifts throughout the year.

We kick off the school year with a picnic in a local park. Volunteers organize delicious snacks and treats and greet parents and kids to help ensure new and returning families feel welcomed and connected.

Our newest program offers parents a chance to connect with one another, enjoy a light breakfast and learn about a variety of topics important to our community. This will be offered several times a year.

Our Mensches crew creates meaningful, hands-on service opportunities for kids and families throughout the year. Past projects have included park clean-ups, sandwich-making, grocery distribution and summer fun kits for underserved kids in the DC area. Bring your energy and new ideas!

Did you love camp? You’ll love this! Come join other camp enthusiasts to lead a program at Camp Milton at Capitol Camps. Bring your love for camp and ideas to run a session for Pre-K -8th grade and parents. Some past sessions included: cooking classes, tie dye, kickball, gaga, ropes course, games, and more!

The MPA works closely with the school librarian and teachers to identify and purchase books for the school’s libraries, which are funded entirely by the MPA. All Milton families are invited to our school-wide Hanukkah Party. We need creative and enthusiastic party planners to make this extra special for kids of all ages. Past events have included DJs, a moon bounce, crafts and candle-lighting. New ideas are welcome!

Join the Milton community for a one-hour virtual cooking class with celebrity chef, Julia Turshen!

Kids of all ages are invited to snuggle up and enjoy a movie and snacks at school. Help us roll out the red carpet for Milton kids!

Each year, Milton parents gather at a local bar to schmooze. Help us plan and execute this fun night for the community!

Need an excuse to wear a costume? Join this committee to create a fun and engaging carnival for our South Campus families!

The MPA works closely with the school librarian and teachers to identify and purchase books for the school’s libraries, which are funded entirely by the MPA. Birthday Books are given to children in honor of their special day. They get to enjoy the book at home, then return it to school to be donated to the school library in their honor. This program is a lovely way to recognize each child while enhancing the Milton libraries.

Held twice a year, this very special program provides Milton families with the opportunity to meet each other and share something we all have in common: Shabbat! Sign up to host or be hosted and get matched with another family. This is a wonderful way to connect with other members of the Milton community that you might not otherwise meet or want to get to know better.
